Paul N. Murphy concentrates his practice on complex business litigation, commercial arbitration and federal criminal enforcement, with emphasis on tax, securities and fraud. He has specialized investigative skills and extensive trial experience in business contract and tort actions as well as financial fraud, both civil and criminal.

Mr. Murphy served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia and in the District of Maryland. Subsequently, he served as a Senior Trial Attorney, Criminal Section, Tax Division, U.S. Department of Justice, where he conducted investigations and trials in off-shore tax shelter and extradition cases. He was Counsel to Stroock & Stroock & Lavan in Washington, D.C. before joining the firm as a founding member in 1994. Mr. Murphy has lectured at the U.S. Attorney General's Advocacy Institute and the Internal Revenue Service. He is also a Commander [Ret.] in the United States Naval Reserve.
